This is a signature Bukhara suzani of the late 19th, early 20th century with a field in floral roundels laid out in a grid pattern. The prominent border features large alternating rosettes with contrasting centres and linked by a curving vine scroll. Both the floral roundels and the large rosettes are stylised pomegranate flowers, poppies or carnations. Throughout the ground there is a dense infill of scrolling vines, irises and tulips. The colour palette is characteristic Bukhara with vibrant reds and warm coral tones against a cream or natural background. Deep blue accents are used in the flower centres.
